I could not be more pleased with this purchase. I recently moved into a rental that has an awkward layout for cooking and this solves the problem beautifully. The leaf is just perfect, allowing more space for food prep but with the option to stow it away to keep the walkway open. From the time I opened the box, including organizing and verifying all the parts, it took 3.5 hours to assemble, plus another 20-30 min for final adjustments, removing stickers, and disposing all the packaging. One of the hardware packets was mislabeled. The instructions were mostly clear with a couple confusing spots. At the end one of the drawers wouldn't slide in all the way so I had to adjust the sliders to a different hole than instructed. I didn't need (or like) the bulky spice rack so I filled the holes with nail hole filler. As other reviewers have commented, it is definitely a tip hazard with the leaf open when the cabinets are empty, but once I put heavier stuff inside the whole thing stabilized. I agree the back side (leaf side) of the unit would look nicer with a more finished appearance but it doesn't bother me since it faces away from the entrance. Luckily the delivery person delivered the box right to my door where I could drag it inside - I'm a petite woman and it weighs 100 lbs, so I wouldn't have been able to get it inside otherwise. The only qualm I have is that I thought it would be baby blue like the photos, though the description said teal. It is more of a teal shade than baby blue. Nice sturdy (enough) island with enough storage to hold my KitchenAid Stand Mixer (14-cup; 6 gallon). The drop leaf is held up by locking arm in the middle of the leaf. The locking arm is sturdy and won’t collapse under pressure (you have to reach under the leaf and push in on the locking arm to get it to collapse). However, the edges of the drop leaf aren’t supported. So it’ll hold a bit of weight at the edges (plates, glasses) but I don’t think a person can rest their elbows and lean on it. Overall, the was an excellent option for my space. Saved me money (custom island would’ve been thousands of dollars). Arrived pretty quickly (no damage) and was pretty easy to assemble (though not quick). Locking wheels do hold the unit in place (unless you really push on it or try to lean upon it).. Kerry. Lots of assembly! Color from pic is true. Levers go up and down on the sides of the drawers to get them in the tracks. Stainless had protective coating but missing in places. Had to polish to try and get matching finish. Had to shim the counter up a bit to give the drawers clearance to freely open and close. All in all, good looking piece for the money. Would make a more solid workstation off the casters. So heavy and so many pieces, had to make it work after delivery. No way to return this. Always a risk with furniture delivered like this.. Dale.
