Beautiful terracotta base. A substantial lamp that is full of earthy character. The shade didn't work for me though. Felt too big, and because I have the lamp sitting on a side table in our sunken living room, you could see too much of the inside and the bulb. I realized I needed an empire shade instead of a drum, so I had to spend the extra money to purchase a different shade. But I'm happy with the purchase overall. Note that you can see a "seam" (one on each side) where the potter put the two pieces together I assume. I like it and think it adds to the character, but others may not.. Andrea. I bought 2 - both arrived scratched, small chipped white areas but I filled them in with markers. They're dark enough to repair with a dark marker. Strong suggestion for buyers: take the shade out of the top and then open the bottom to push the lamp thru. I opened the first one wrong (tried to pull it out) broke the styrofoam which turned into a white atom bomb. Little white beads that stuck to everything - walls, hands, legs, - worse than glitter, you can't shake it off. White beads everywhere.
