Saw this chair and just had to get it for my grandkids' room. It is so cute. The reclining mechanism is to just push back, no lever on the side. It reclined easily when I pushed on the back, but I haven't had a bonafide kid try it yet. The product is made up of lots of plush stuffing and heavy fabrib to withstand chilren using it.
