It has a big gouge in the side. When it came it was the only bad spot in the whole thing. We went ahead and put it together and Im trying to figure out a way to putty over it. The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it.
