Fossil Blu fireclay sinks are comprised of solid genuine crystalline-silica fireclay. When paired with a silica-based glaze and fired at 2200 degrees, the two silicas fuse together, creating a new quartz-like material. As opposed to inferior ceramic sinks, which are usually hollow core, fired at lower temperatures, and exhibit little fusing, ours is far superior and engineered to remove even the possibility of hairline cracks/crazing. The apron is a full 10 inches high and takes center stage! Sides of sink have a slight 1/4" taper from top to bottom. There are many benefits to fireclay. Its glazed surface inhibits bacterial growth more than stainless steel. It is eco-friendly requiring less cleansers. Due to the firing process, dimensions are nominal and may vary to actual up to .25". Custom cabinet required to support weight of this sink. * A note about fireclay: small cracks will appear on the unglazed underside of the sink, these are cosmetic only and have no impact on the performance of the sink.

Great looking sink, short apron saved us from having to adjust existing base cabinet doors below it. We hired someone to install it, they built a platform to hold the sink added boards for additional support on the sides. Love the modern look with clean lines. Removed one star because water tends to pool on the surface, sides get water spots, corners are square I worry about keeping it clean in the long run - basically all the drawbacks to having a zero radius sink.
