As Ellen Ehk Åkesson was asked to create an art object in honor of Ulrica Hydman Vallien's artistry, the magnificent Ticka was born. The object became part of Kosta Boda's 2021 tribute collection to the late Hydman Vallien. Ticka, available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, is a vessel from Ellen’s own imagination based on the same shape as Ulrica’s “snake bowl”. “I wanted to make something of my own, but with a connection to Ulrica’s art. For the tribute collection, I was inspired by the directness of her approach and style. The vessel symbolizes a tree trunk. It’s covered with modeled polypore mushrooms, called ‘Ticka’ in Swedish – hence the name.” – Ellen Ehk Åkesson. Ticka is handmade in Kosta, Sweden.

The Wolverton wall sconce is finished in bronze verdigris and fitted with seeded glass panels for an aged effect that takes the design back to Americana. The distressed reflector behind the candelabra bulb furthers the time-honored feel of this bronze sconce.

The design of the Fielding Flush Mount was inspired by the engineering capabilities that its integrated LED technologies bring to the table. Though the glass looks uniform when the illumination warms it, there are subtle drifts of milkier white in some spots than others, which adds a bit of texture to this geometric design.

The Baobab Large Silver Chandelier features a graceful biophilic design with luminous recycled glass leaves that appear to flutter in a gentle breeze. Each glass piece is pressed into shape and individually placed along slender wrought iron stems, finished in a contemporary silver leaf. The soft, organic arrangement creates a sense of movement and lightness around the twelve dimmable bulbs.

Raised in Los Angeles, California, D’Alessandro was the youngest of three brothers. When art competition was a form of play for the brothers, it later grew into his obsession. D’Alessandro attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended Illustration, Sculpting, and Fine Art workshops in Fullerton Ca. After spending long periods studying different techniques, D’Alessandro's art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During D’Alessandro’s studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. D’Alessandro was able to indulge his earliest artistic preferences for people, nature, architecture, and landscapes in his illustration and personal pieces. He also painted family, friends, and gardens. He has done commissioned work for a variety of clients in music, publishing, and editorial. His work has been exhibited in numerous private and public collections.
