Bottom basket has two metal supports across the top, harder to put bags there but there is a zipper opening in the bag if you need to fit things I. This is the perfect cart for handling items especially if you have stairs. It holds plenty of grocery items and is very easy to maneuver. I also use it for toting items like empty bottles for glass recycling which are far too heavy when placed in separate in bags. I live in a condo community which has a dumpster for residents' trash, so I remove the storage bag and place my trash bag (or one bag on top of another) use a string to tie the bags to the handle of the cart and easily bring the bags to the dumpster which is far better than walking to to it with two heavy bags - especially for those of us over 50.
