I purchased the Vornado Portal Low Profile Window Fan for our nearly 200-year-old farmhouse, which does not have central air conditioning, and it has made a noticeable difference in keeping the house comfortable. One of my favorite features is the exhaust mode, which does an excellent job of pulling hot, stale air out of the house, especially after a warm day or when cooking. The low-profile design fits nicely in the window without being bulky or obstructing the view. It was easy to install, and the controls are straightforward to use. It was easy to add this fan to a location where a porch light was no longer needed. I purchased a 3 way switch and connected inside so that we can change the speed with a wall switch. I did not add any additional wiring, so it does not oscillate. However, it is mounted in a 9x9 ft space, so that is not a problem. It is very comparable in sound and pressure to the same desk top fan that I use in my bedroom.
