This refrigerator replaced a 22 year old Artica GE Side by Side. I had kept the Artica going for all these years, but got tired of the defrost heater burning out what I consider to be too often? I purchased OEM one's, but the last one lasted about 14 months and it was a GE one. Don't know why they don't last any better? Anyway said goodbye to the old girl that served us pretty well for those 22 years. The ice maker had failed and had developed an internal leak I could not find and fix, so we lived without that for several of it's last years. Now, this new one is HUGE at 28.3 The old one was about 25 cu. ft. Actually, I hated the dark tunnel of the Artica Side by Side. Could not find things back in there! This new one is great from that standpoint with the lighted back panel, you can see everything in there. Like the convertible part and the drawers in the freezer section. I've read that the ice makers in GE refrigerators are troublesome compared to other brands? I hope it is trouble free, but all of that is unknown just after purchase and setup. The old Artica was built like a tank. The shelving was sturdy. This new one has shelving and door trays that are a bit less robust. I hope they stand up as well as the old Profile Artica? Its got the handles built into the door so no bulky handles to get in the way when you're working around it. The inside is also well made with the glass shelving and everything can be easily adjusted to accommodate what you want to keep in it. We keep drinks primarily in ours as well as items we need to keep cold that we don't have room for in the kitchen fridge. It has a lot of room and being able to move the racks to adjust for what I want to put in it is great. The top part of the fridge can be used for storage or other appliances. The only small complaint is that you can see the fingerprints easily on the top part but it’s easily cleaned and not a deal breaker.
