As a portraitist, Victorian Frank Dicksee exhibited at the Royal Academy and was particularly renowned for his series of oil paintings of Shakespearean characters. Considered a Pre-Raphaelite painter in style and technique, Dicksee painted elegant society portraits as well as biblical, literary and historical figures. He served as leader of the Royal Academy and was knighted in 1925. This stylized design of a desert landscape is adapted from Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers; one of a set of magazine covers Frank Lloyd Wright designed for Liberty magazine in 1927, but was not published at the time. Since then this design was re-created by Mr. Wright in 1955 for a rug and was also adapted by the Taliesin Architects for an art glass window installed in the 1970s remodel of the entrance to the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, Arizona where it can still be seen today.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Hollyhock House Stained Glass is adapted from one of Wright’s first Los Angeles project, the Hollyhock House, which was completed in 1923. The house was inspired by the favorite flower of Aline Barnsdall who commissioned the home. The good: these are solid wood organizers, and they feel sturdy and of good quality. They are all modular, so if you order more than one, as we did, you can mix and match drawers to customize the ratio of drawers to shelves. Also, you can build it in multiple configurations to match your needs and closet size and shape. They do look great in the closet. Now the not so good: First of all, if you’re hoping for a nice ash blonde color like the photo, you’ll be disappointed. These units are ORANGE. They’re fine, it’s not a dealbreaker, but wow, what a difference from the photo. Another con is that if you buy multiple units of different types, get ready for a major puzzle solving challenge. The drawers are shipped in separate boxes and there are no labels on the boxes or information on the John Louis website that tells you which box goes with which unit. Wayfair customer service couldn’t help at all. Our confusion was compounded by the fact that when we finally figured it all out, we discovered that two drawers were missing from the shipment. Finally, you have to be pretty handy to assemble them. My husband is a fine woodworker and even for him there was a long learning curve on the first one. He also had trouble attaching the drawer glides—the small screws didn’t sink in straight and continually drifted off the grooved guides on the sides of the drawers. It might be that the wood grain has soft and harder bands so the screws naturally drift into the softer areas. The first drawer took forever to fit to the frame and when we finally got it in, the soft close mechanism didn’t work. But the second drawer seems to work as promised.. Anonymous. IL. This Frank Lloyd Wright Thomas Entry Ceiling Light Stained Glass is adapted from the art glass pattern Wright designed for three vestibule ceiling lights in the Frank Thomas House, Oak Park, Illinois (1901). This project was designed and built at the request of Mr. James Rogers as a wedding gift for the client’s daughter and son-in-law.

The Beth Sholom synagogue is Wright's only synagogue among a relatively small number of religious Commissions and still has an active congregation. Its power as a building stemmed from the fruitful collaboration between Wright and the congregation rabbi, Mortimer J. Cohen, and is symbolically and liturgically grounded in Judaic tradition. The synagogue glass pyramid is an unforgettable presence in the suburban Philadelphia landscape, day and night. The synagogue is open for tours. Beth Sholom was listed as a national historic landmark in 2007. A portion of Sholom's royalties from the sale of Beth Sholom merchandise will go directly to support the ongoing preservation of this national treasure.
