Glass cooktops use a thermal limiter switch to protect against overheating by shutting down power to the element should it become too hot. When the limiter on these elements fails it will usually totally prevent the element from heating and the element needs to be replaced. If this is happening to your glass cooktop, the dual radiant heat element is an exact replacement for the Electrolux part with the same number.

I've lived in this home for almost 8 years. The water about twice a year seems to be "shocked" with chlorine. Now my water test according to the state report is some of the cleaner in the state of NC, but the taste is horrible. The TDS tested at 43 and the chlorine was almost as high as pool water level. So my fiance and myself, after much research, decided on ispring. Cost, customer reviews, install and how it tailored to our issues were why we chose it. Chlorine was drying out our skin, causing itching, and damaging our hair and probably damaging our mitochondria if I had guess. Immediately after I got the whole house system installed and the system purged it was night and day. We've notice more energy, less stomach issues, our hair is easily brushed/combed. Is your electric range's cooktop surface element not performing like it used to? For example, does the element remain cool? Are the contacts on the surface element worn out or blackened? Or is there is rust or corrosion on the coils? Then you may need to replace the surface element itself. The product supplies the heat to a cooking area on top of the electric range. This element has temperature-limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. The number one reason for household fires is cooking-related, so retrofitting with this safety surface element makes sense on a lot of levels. Us regulations require all new coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities. This retrofit replacement element has a silver medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must contact the bottom of the pan for the thermostat to sense the temperature properly. When the thermostat detects a pan temperature above the safe limit, the element will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached, then heat will resume to the element.
