Spent a lot of time researching for this. Many non-salt filters/softeners are so expensive to run. I liked that this has a pre-filter, but that the water is primarily run through a tank. Installation wasn't too bad.. I say that as if I put it in. Long story short, this has DRAMATICALLY reduced the scale in my home. we installed this water system about a year ago and noticed a drop in water pressure. We are kind of clueless when it comes to this stuff so we decided that it could be the filter ( which after reading should've been replaced at six months) .
