I gave the mattresses about two days to fully expand and was surprised at how firm they are. Most "firm" mattresses are not very firm; however, I weigh just under 200lbs and I sunk in about a half-inch. It is a soft kind of firm, not a hard, cheap couch kind of firm. My wife laid on the top one and she was equally, pleasantly surprised. That says a lot, coming from her, as she has a bad hip and is very particular when it comes to mattresses. Phenomenal mattress. It is actually firm, but not so firm that it feels like you are sleeping on a board. The edge is firm enough that you can comfortably sit on it, and the mattress does not sag or deflect when another person sits on it or rolls over. 10in is just the right height for finding sheets that fit and not being to high off the ground. Made in USA is a bonus. The mattress was ready for sleeping within an hour, but reached its peak firmness and size a day or two later (not enough to notice an appreciable difference).
