I was hesitant to purchase this file cabinet because of some of the reviews that cited poor packaging and damage to the cabinet. I am happy to report that the two-drawer, silver cabinet (MADE in the USA and already assembled!!!) was delivered in perfect condition and after figuring out how and where to place the hanging folder frames (included in the file drawers) and the cross bars (purchased separately thru Wayfair and described as the Hirsch Lateral Front to Back Rail Kit), I REALLY glad that I decided to buy this file cabinet. I am using the drawers for front-to-back, LETTER-sized hanging files. Because of the width of the cabinet, I used 2 cross bars in each drawer, which leaves about 6"of extra space in each drawer. This space cannot be used to put LEGAL-sized hanging file because the hanging folder frames are too far apart because of the positioning used to accommodate the letter-sized front-to-back hanging files. This is not a problem for me and the positioning can always be changed, if desired. You could use legal-size hanging files from front-to-back and there would be no extra space on each side. The cabinet is very sturdy, but I am going to purchase a piece of clear plastic to put on the top of the cabinet to prevent scratches. You can definitely place something on the top because the steel is very strong. There are 2 front gliders that can be adjusted to level the cabinet. There are 2 keys to lock the cabinet, and I am happy to report I can keep them in the cabinet until ready to use because this is not a push-in lock (thank goodness); you must lock it with the key, so it cannot be accidentally locked with the keys inside (which happened to me with my kids and another file cabinet). This is a beautiful piece of office furniture. Looks very good. Took about 3 hours to put together. If you are not good with reading instructions fully get help. It's somewhat strong, but I would only use it for hanging file folders. The bottoms of the draws are made with some sort of hardboard and the weight is not sufficient to hold much of anything else in my opinion. They are just slid into slots on the bottom. On the plus side, the file cabinet looks great and has nice features such as levelers, and a lock. Also, the drawers glide smoothly and rails to support legal-size Pendaflex hanging folders are built in. On the negative side, Wayfair staff is woefully unprepared to answer questions about the product and in my case offered an incorrect answer to my main question as to whether the hanging folder rails came with the product. I had to call the manufacturer, Friant, to get a straight answer. Also, compared to my older American made file cabinets, this one is rather cheaply constructed. The sheet metal is of a lighter gauge than I'd prefer and the drawer glides and bearings are on the flimsy side. At $600 this would have been a good deal.
