The tree arrived in a lightweight, easy to manage box. It is about 3 inches shorter than 78" which is fine as it is handmade. The branches are attached securely and the trunk (made up of four intertwined trunks) looks very realistic. The leaves are a medium green and quite attractive. It took only a few minutes to "fluff" to my taste. The fact that it didn't come with a decorative pot was good as I had my own pot. The ficus Alii, or Amstel King as it is sometimes called, is a large plant that originally came from Asia, Malaysia, and India. It was first grown commercially in Hawaii where it got the Hawaiian name alii which means king. Although a ficus Alii is closely related to the ficus Benjamina, the Alii variety is much more tolerant and forgiving. The long, narrow leaves are naturally glossy and taper to a point. As this ficus tree grows, it may drop its lower leaves revealing a bare woody trunk, giving this tree a palm-like appearance. Care is easier than for many of its relatives. You'll find it's less temperamental than F. benjamina, that drops its leaves when it doesn't get what it wants. However, leaf drop is possible with 'Alii' if it doesn't get enough light and regular waterings. The Ficus alii standard image that you can see here got its name from its single upright trunk. Burgundy rubber plant (Ficus elastica Burgundy), a man-made cultivar, develops large leaves, 8 to 12 inches long and 4 inches wide, with a burgundy tint and a red midrib. In frost-free climates, this plant reaches 40-feet tall when planted in the ground in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 10 and 11. In cooler climates, the Burgundy rubber plant grows as a houseplant. Locate the Burgundy rubber plant in the brightest light available. Direct sunlight produces the darkest burgundy color on the leaves. This plant tolerates low indoor light, but the leaves fade to a light green color. They can grow to impressive heights within a few years, especially if you put the plants outside during the summer. Keeping the plants in small pots will restrict their growth, if you want to keep them smaller. This plant needs watering only when the soil becomes dry. Pour water into the top of the plant pot, and let it run out the bottom to soak the roots. Do not splash the leaves since this will cause stains. Burgundy rubber plants do not like waterlogged roots. During the winter, cut the watering schedule back to only every couple of weeks.

I love this pot planter. The color is lovely and the pot is a nice weight. Sturdy enough to not tip over but not too heavy to move around. It has a brilliant removable plate that you can install for smaller plants or remove for very tall plants. The hole in the plate seemed a little too wide so I added a small section of screen and planted directly into the pot.
