I purchased the LG LDTS5552S dishwasher and have experienced a persistent chemical odor since the beginning of ownership. The smell is difficult to describe precisely, but it resembles heated rubber, vinyl, petroleum products, or synthetic plastic. The odor becomes stronger as the dishwasher heats up and appears to be emitted from the lower vent area. The problem occurs even during normal operation without using the High Temp or Extra Dry settings. Over the past year I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including cleaning the filters repeatedly, running cycles without detergent, using dishwasher cleaning cycles, and removing additional plastic accessories from inside the machine. None of these actions resolved the issue. The dishes themselves do not retain the odor, but the heated air emitted by the dishwasher does. The smell is strong enough to travel beyond the kitchen and can sometimes be noticed on the second floor of the house. After more than a year of trying to live with this issue, I have stopped using the dishwasher altogether and returned to washing dishes by hand because I am not comfortable having my family continuously exposed to the odor. What concerns me most is that this odor appears whenever the appliance is heated, suggesting that materials inside the unit may be releasing volatile compounds into the air. I do not know whether LG has evaluated the long-term impact of breathing these emissions during routine daily use, but I believe this is a legitimate concern that deserves attention. I am disappointed because otherwise the dishwasher performs well. If LG is aware of this issue or has a solution, I would genuinely appreciate a response. I replaced my 20 year old grill with this Napoleon 700 series grill. The technology on this grill has come a long way compared to my old grill. Cooks great, doesn’t flare up like my old grill. It has an insulated hood that keeps a consistent temperature. I used the rotisserie for the first time this weekend and it worked great. I couldn’t believe how quiet it was. With the back infrared burner it cooked very evenly. The lights on the grill work great for cooking at night and they look pretty cool too. Nice grill. Heats up quickly and love that the burners light up well. The backlit control knobs are great as they light up red if turned on. I have found that there are zones with different temperatures on the cooking surface, so that needs to be watched when cooking and you may need to move the food around on the surface. I’m converting from an upright to a canister vacuum, so I’ve had to change my technique in how I vacuum the house. Instead of starting at one end of the room and then stepping backward to make the next path as I’ve always done with an upright, that way just doesn’t work for a few reasons, but to keep this brief, instead I now pick a section of the room to start (my rooms are small to average in size at only 1100 sq feet total), so it’s usually towards the center of the room where I position the canister vacuum and begin a starburst pattern. I keep the canister vacuum relatively in the same spot, until I am ready to begin in another section. This way there is less moving of the canister vacuum. Now the hose and handle are quite long when combined on the Kenmore canister vacuum, not to mention sturdy, so I only reposition 2 or 3 times in my smaller-size rooms, and I’m done in that room. Pros are, it gets under furniture much easier than an upright, hands down, and it is quieter. A bonus of this machine is you can control the suction, and therefore that is done with changing the speed of the motor, so if you can do light cleaning at a lower suction and not feel like your waking the entire house., The noise level drops dramatically. For me, this alone seals the deal on this cleaning machine. I also liked that all the tools are stored on the body of the vacuum and covered, so they’re not getting knocked off, and I’m not having to constantly run to the closet to dig through a bag of parts looking for the right attachment. All full size vacuums should follow Kenmore ways of thinking and designing vacuum cleaners in my opinion. Even though I found my work around in my style of vacuuming, it is a bit more difficult to carry around, a bit bulky, but I am not at all regretting my purchase of a canister vac, and I highly recommend the option pop and go bagged canister vacuum by Kenmore. I think it does just as good, if not better, of a job than vacuums two or three times higher in price. It’s built sturdy, which makes it a little heavier, but I expect it to last for many, many years. I suggest you give this vacuum a test yourself and see if you agree. Oh I almost forgot, one last thing I think you should know, it seems to pick up dog hair on hard surfaces better than upright models that I’ve vacuumed with in the past.. Thomas. Palm Springs, CA.
