Had we gone with the 13" we wouldn't have to touch up paint around it, but I also like that they aren't that noticeable and something bigger might have been too obtrusive as this is just a small rectangle between multiple rooms. I got 3 of these lights in matte black for my hallway, laundry room, and pantry. They were easy to install and provide a good amount of light using 2 bulbs. The only part of install that is slightly difficult is putting the light cover on after installing the bulbs.
