I was a little hesitant reading some reviews of clearly used and dirty rugs arriving, but I needed a rug that was 6x6' (hard to find), washable AND 100% cotton and this was the only one out there! It is more plush than you would think and it is really soft. I clearly did get a new one (not a used/dirty one like some reviews said) and I am happy with it. I see what some reviews mean where they compare it to a blanket - it does have a softer, shag feel to it, but perhaps that can be fixed with a pad.
