The fan is not overly loud, but definitely has a white noise sound to it. An instruction book is included with the unit, however, it is a little difficult to follow. I went to the product listing on the Wayfair website to obtain information that was not in the instruction book. Overall, not a bad unit in terms of volume of airflow.
