I really like this desk. I think its great. However, I only recommended it for those ready for the technical and physical challenges and have the skills, time, and patience for assembling things like this. The instructions describe the general order of assembly and are insufficient on certain details. It comes in five boxes, so be sure to do a complete inventory before starting. I spent more than 24 hours (with break times) for unpacking, inventory, and assembly, including getting the drawers and doors operating smoothly to running, wrapping, and placement of power, video, and data cables so that they are just right. Good buy for the price. Nice fabric - soft, easy to clean and vacuum. It seems wider than 40". Easily seats 2 people or 1 person and 4 dogs! It is firmer than I like - am hoping the seat cushion will soften up a bit (I've had it for 4 days). There appears to be some kind of a brace or support running down the middle of the seat that causes you to slip off to the side a bit unless you're centered on it when sitting or reclining.
