This gas stove top insert was purchased as a replacement for rental house. Installation was simple to set in place and the hook up to existing natural gas line was very easy. Eventhough this is nice looking, Im giving it 4 stars due to the fact it wobbles and Im worried my pans will fall. Its very weird how its made, dont know if its a defect. Cause no matter how I move it the grates still wobble. There is nothing to keep the grates from wobbling, we double check the box and nothing. This thing is heavy duty, had some installation issues as the bolt pattern was a little different than the unit i replaced. The instructions don't mention what all the hardware is for but I recommend getting an extra long screw extension and some screws with washer built in. The angle brackets they included for what i assume is a cabinetless setup came in handy to hold it up while I got the top screws in. Its quite heavy compared to old unit needed to reinforce cabinet to hold the weight. Also cut off the plug to do a direct wire install. Performance is very good so far and not very loud. The only think I am not crazy about is the bright halogen lights, they should be further back so it illuminates whole stove more than your eyes. Overall this is a solid unit in its price range and I can finally put battery back in my smoke detector. Works good and looks nice but it would have helped if the remote control worked. There’s no way to dim the lights without the remote so it is very bright when the room is dark. Update… Contacted the manufacturer directly and they fixed the issue. They were very responsive and sent a free replacement remote control and panel. They guided me through the whole process of pairing the remote and followed through a few days later to see how everything was working. Now it is working 100 perfect!!
