Classic craftsman series posts are not prone to the same environmental damage as real wood, such as splitting or cracking. Their E-Z Lock joints will not separate due to disproportionate changes in panel dimensions. When 2 coats of acrylic latex paint are applied, classic craftsman series posts will deliver years of service as promised against rot, corrosion, and moisture damage.

Amazing...I grappled with buying these columns for 2 years, because of the non-refundable policy, so I had to be sure. I have a small porch so I knew I couldnt get the columns to wide or the proportions would look odd. So I used makeshift cardboard and the like to determine what to buy...I made the best decision with the 5.63 width columns they look amazing. My contractor bought 5 wood post from our local big box store and used brackets to install them on the porch. He used his nail gun to fasten each wrap to the wood post, he said it was rather simple to install. Next he caulked all the small nail gun holes and painted ( per instructions for winter protection) looks amazing. It's lovely material, but the install was initially pretty (conceptually) tough. Screwed up with the adhesive and had to order another piece of this. The main thing that saved the final install was using a (cordless) nailer, which made it a lot easier. If you don't have one, recommend to borrow one from a friend (hopefully you already have one). If you don't use a nailer, try to find the least obtrusive finish nails / use a precision finish tool (not sure what it is called but it's a little thing you use with a hammer to push the nail heads deeper, but not so that you dent the moulding) to submerge the nail heads. When you paint this, also recommend to start with the little domes and really work around them so paint does not pool. Finish the rest of the paint job with swipes in parallel to the length of the 'board'. I ended up using four coats of paint...it was worth it. Your mileage may vary! Urethane faux wood shutters stay true to authentic wood by not only having a wood grain, but also by having the ability to be either gel-stained or painted. Longevity of this faux wood material is priceless, without sacrificing the real wood appearance of the shutters.

Purchased the Riverwood style. Painted them but have not installed yet. They arrived primed, but primer is tacky…sticky. I have had to put 2 heavy coats of paint on them. Still painting…waiting for paint coats to dry and not be sticky either. Only concern is the shutters are not as sturdy as I expected (why the 4 stars) and hoping during installation they will not be damaged.
