This is the quietest range hood I have ever used with an unique design. The installation is straight forward for most with video tutorial online that's readily available. I went with a professional installation. This range hood is rated at 1100cfm and the unique design has worked very well. My home no longer smells even when I deep fry. I did two modifications for my installation. I went with a Zephyr 6"-8" duct increaser. The reason I did this is because the range hood is rated over 1000cfm. This might not be necessary but it's a choice I made for myself because of the rated CFM. My installation required a 4" spacer piece. I used 6" 10-32 fine thread screws to secure my upper cabinet to the range hood to make up the 4" spacer difference. This is not necessary according to Fotile but I went the extra mile for $13 more in screws, bolts, and washers. So far I am very satisfied with how quiet and powerful it is. The vent cover arrived quickly and in good condition. I like the modern, clean style and the screws are hidden. The installation instructions are clear and remind you multiple times to measure the opening and purchase the cover appropriate for the space. There is no wheel or mechanism to open and close the baffles. You use your fingers or a screwdriver which could be a pain if you are using it in a ceiling or other difficult to access area. We LOVE this thing! Best upgrade ever. We purchased a sufficiently rated countdown timer switch with intervals that seemed appropriate for a bathroom heater (Leviton DT102 15-30-1h-2h) and have been enjoying this heated mirror so much. A brief ON will defog the mirror, while 15 minutes ON (switching on a bit before getting into the shower) is long enough for it to heat up fully and make a huge difference when stepping OUT of the shower. 30mins is great for getting ready on a very cold morning. The mirror optics seem very clear and high quality. We did not do the installation ourselves, as it was put in during a whole house rewire the electricians opted to put in a recessed outlet box behind the mirror and just plug it in there, rather than hard wiring it. This will preserve flexibility going forward. Because it was going in a very particular place, and we have plaster rather than drywall, they opted to install cross pieces of plywood secured to the wall, and mounted the mirror to the wood strips. It’s very secure-feeling. My one negative point is the thing gets so warm that it’s not comfortable to lean my face close (bad eyesight) for putting on make-up. This is something that might require finessing your timing if it was your only mirror, or setting up a small well-lit mirror in another location.
