I have two 12 pound 1-year old cats, and I bought this thinking one would sleep on top and one would sleep in the basket. Of course they tussle over who gets the top and neither uses the basket at all. Only once I've seen them sleeping on the top together, so it will fit both. I took away one star because the tree is not as sturdy as I hoped. It's well made and was easy to assemble, but it sways a bit since everything is balanced on the single tree trunk, despite tightening as much as we could. I put a small plastic bin full of landscape rocks on the base to counterbalance so it doesn't sway too far or tip over when a cat leaps onto it. The mid range height is perfect for placement behind our sofa, so it doesn't block the view of the TV from the kitchen. The top level is very soft and both cats love to stretch out and sleep there. I did not attach the large fluffy ball, because it contains a rather annoying rattle. Overall this is nice, but definitely for 1-2 cats that aren't too big. I think the listing said 3 cats up to 22 pounds each, but that doesn't seem realistic in my opinion. It's a good looking cat tree that blends into the decor better than some others.. Katie. On the other hand “Miss Piggy”, a 13 lb 4yr old cat, says this is a nicely built 5 star quality kitty shelf, great for climbing and dodging the other cats, but it only gets 3 stars for comfort. It’s a great quality shelf, but “Mona Lisa” is the only cat who will use this shelf to relax in, since she’s so small. The other 5 cats do not use this shelf to relax in, it’s mostly used for getting up off the floor to safety and a means to get up to the longer andor flatter shelves which are the preferred destination shelves.. This all wood cat tree was very easy to assemble in 10 minutes. No tools needed. Just screw in the threaded pole and 2 of beds tight. Plus vacuum it and you are done. My cat jumped right into the nice size 15” wide bed there. Its plenty sturdy for my 2 - 12 lb. cats. And has a nice firm 24” x 20” sq. wood base . The reason i gave it 4 stars because IT IS NOT CHOCOLATE BROWN as pictured which is what I wanted. It is a med beige tan, see photo. Disappointing but I am keeping it and my two cats love it.
