I did all the measurements and was still surprised at it's size compared to the very large recliner I have sitting next to it! It's immediately comfortable, no need to break it in first. You have plenty of room to sit sideways or cross-legged. My large dog would love to take it over as his personal bed. I have a small ottoman/pouf that I can put in front of it for extra comfort as well. The side arms are tall enough that with the pillow you can lean against it to watch TV. My daughter lays with her legs hanging over the edge of the arm. For our small living room it fills adds another comfy option for seating against a wall where you might otherwise put a side chair.. I am very happy with my chairs. The size and color are just as expected. I did order samples of upholstery, which I highly recommend. By doing so, as seen in the photos, I was able to match very closely with my footstools. The seaming is beautifully done. HOWEVER, the reason for my four stars, is that the seat cushion extends several inches over the edge of the chair as seen in the photo. I’m quite sure this will affect how the seat wears over time..
