This is a pretty darn nice, sturdy bookcase which isn't cheap plywood and that's a pleasant surprise at this price point. It fits perfectly between my computer desk and file cabinet where I needed shelfs for reference books. I deducted one star because of a few issues. Maybe I should have deducted two! It took me a little over an hour to put it together myself, mostly because the pictograph instructions aren't the best so I took my time and studied it, then went back to the website to download one of three other PDF instructions that seemed a little easier to follow. Instructions state to screw shelves and braces to both sides of the bookcase and then place the top piece. I've put together pieces with shelves before and I always find that it's easier to screw all pieces into one side, then flip it and attach the other side. Two of the holes were not drilled properly, making it difficult to get the side screws in and one of the shelves wasn't finished properly, having a weird tacky area where it appears the black paint was missed and something sticky was left. At some point, I'll have to give it a light sanding and repaint that shelf, but I don't have time for that nonsense today. Also, the instructions don't tell you that you'll need a rubber mallet to tap in the little plugs that cover the screws, but you will definitely need one to get them seated in properly.. Gloria. I gave this 5 stars, but not because of ease of assembly; it is difficult and definitely requires 2 people. However, considering it's 6 sheets of tempered glass, it's not going to be easy. It did, however, go together properly. Parts were bagged and labeled well. There are some spare parts, but not many, so be careful, especially with the little teflon washers and rubber o-rings. The o-rings have to be stretched over metal things with a groove; do NOT leave off the o-rings, even though it looks like you can, because those are what the shelves rest on. Pay close attention to the instructions, except for step 6 expanded view; the side panels need to go outside the back panels; the drawing makes it look like they go inside. But once I got it all together, it looks great! Well worth the price. And the most amazing thing about it is that 6 sheets of heavy glass, each 6 feet tall, were shipped from Georgia to Texas and had no damage. A masterly feat of logistics!. Jerry. San Angelo, TX. Nice cabinet, easy to put together if you know how to build stuff. I added custom door pulls that I had made from a local glass blower. Using it as a liquor cabinet, quickly realized it fills up fast. Only complaint is the lights that were included were not the same as in the video and installation per instructions was to punch the pre cut holes out of back panel. I chose not to do that because I felt it would distort the back panel which is very thin and kind of flimsy. I routed the lights behind the shelves and used a split loom wire cover to hide the wires from the lights. I would suggest that the manufacturer use threaded holes and machine hardware instead of small holes and self tapping screws. Installation would be easier and would make product feel more stable.
