I have a wood burning fireplace but I also have asthma. So anything that smokes is out for me. I placed this inside the fireplace. I purchased this Fireplace TV Stand to replace an old one we had that no longer worked. After looking at many I was happy to find one with a Duraflame fireplace since I had another Duraflame which works great. After a hiccup of some missing screws, Wayfair sent me a new unit right away and rescheduled my assembly to a convenient time for us. When the heater is on, the bar at the top glows [see 2nd photo], which is good, so you know the heat is on. Plus, there is a timer accessed by the remote for up to several hours. I actually cant think of anything else you could ask for. I was worried that the case would be shiny, and it is, but that is not a negative. It will make it easy to dust. I have tried several electric log sets and been extremely disappointed. Nothing on the market that’s a log set looks close to being a real fire experience. But this Napoleon sets comes closest. I assembled it myself in about 30 minutes. Instructions were easy. The “glowing fire “ could be more realistic, the flames could be higher and wider and the blower on the heater could be quieter. I paid much more for other log sets that couldn’t hold a candle (or flame ) to this set.
