haven't installed this yet - there were a lot of questions about this item when i first purchased it and hope to answer them now. It comes with a grounded electric plug (which is recommended by the manufacturer as of 3/18) and in the included connection box it does have the option to use four AA batteries instead. Very efficient controller. Have only had it in place for about 2 months so time will tell, but it's working great so far. The only thing I wasn't clear on was that it will only work for one faucet.
