I assumed it would kind of fade to the same shade since the first box was in the sun for an extra day but a few weeks later, its the same. Its perfectly sturdy and comfortable. The box is larger than our old which was plastic. So far it has deterred a bear from opening the metal lid. A bear opened our plastic bin and pulled out a small metal barrel holding bird seed. It took us about three to four hours over the course of two afternoons. I recommend two people during assembly. Once assembled the bin seems very sturdy. The good: We bought the 14x10 and it is heavy duty. I haven't fixed it to my deck yet, but I doubt that would even be necessary because it's heavy and sturdy. It gets 4 stars because I'm confident it will serve its purpose for a long time. The bad: I can't give it 5 stars because assembly was difficult, even with 2 people in their 30s. It took us a total of around 10-12 hours over a few days. When assembling the large/heavy support beams, you will probably need to have some kind of supporting table or shelf to lean them on (or have a person hold a large piece while someone affixes it to another) to prevent bending. You'll also need at least one step ladder and a Phillips head screwdriver, which the description fails to mention and isn't included. LOVE THIS PERGOLA - We needed something that kept the sun off our outdoor kitchen in central Florida. We lifted it by about 18 inches so it would be above our door by using flower boxes and filled with concrete. It actually makes the pergola more comfortable by raising it. The gutters work well in the heavy down pours known in Florida. The higher wind tolerance was a huge selling point for us. We couldnt be happier.
