It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

It arrived nicely packed, but I took one star away as it did not come with the 2 inch wood screws needed to do its install! It also did not come with instructions for installation. This meant searching online for instructions and having to go get the screws needed for the install. For use indoors or out, this ASTM E136 non-combustible mantel shelf was cast from a patented molding material using a found piece of Limestone capturing, to perfection, the nuances and subtle details of this age-old stone. The chiseled front edge springs to life through the artistry of a meticulously hand-painted finish. Made in the USA, this shelf has a 9-inch depth allowing for ample room on top for personal effects. Due to the natural imperfections captured from the Limestone, the top of the mantel shelf will have natural offsets and depressions and the dimensions will vary slightly, i.e. shelf height and depth will be marginally different across the entire mantel. 5”H x 9”D 100lbs. When mounting your mantel, adhere to the “clearances to combustibles” specifications of your fireplace insert or stove.

The product quality is super however I did not like the wayfair delivery left the package at the door without double checking the product because this product has marked as non refundable so be careful its better to be there and ask the delivery guys open the box and double check everything. Wow! This 72” mantel was even better than expected. The stain was even, and the finish was more on the matte side which was exactly what I wanted for our remodeled family room! I noticed some people commenting on the pearl insert on the side. I didn’t think it was noticeable. It’s small and towards the back on the right side.
