This product imparts a greater gloss than Marmoleum has out of the box. I'd call it satin. We like the shine. Since it is a Forbo product it should be the most compatible treatment available. The instructions say it both cleans and shines though it makes sense to thoroughly sweep then clean the floor with mild detergent and water or the Forbo cleaner first. This worked perfectly between the playroom carpet and the old oak floors in the hallway. For some reason, the carpet installer (all those years ago) had not used anything for the threshold, and the cats had been pulling out the carpet next to the wood. This piece solved the problem!
