Overall, pretty happy so far. I needed a temperature controlled mini fridge to store feeder insects (for my reptile) in and this seems ok. The buttons work as they should, and the light has a couple settings of brightness that get quite bright. The shelves are difficult to remove but its doable. I wish there was a condensed water collector at the bottom like my last one by AstroAI, but they stopped making them. My only real complaint is that it cant get warmer than 46 degrees (shouldnt the cooling feature just be able to turn off and back on when needed to get to a higher temp) So it isnt super useful for me. This is such an upgrade from our 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner. We purchased this Danby because our old a/c unit started blowing hot air. After checking to see if it needed draining, filter cleaning, checking the hose for blockages, etc., we realized it was likely not worth trying to get it repaired. We've bought Danby products before but never a/c units. So far, it's doing a great job. We have it set up in our living room, which counts as two rooms if we were to carpet it and so far, it's keeping the space nice and cool. We live in an apartment, so this works really well. The true test will be how it lasts during some of the summer's longer heat waves, but as we're experiencing mini heat waves right now (that last maybe 2-3 days), I'm happy to say that it's doing a decent job. Oh, and it's super quiet. Our other a/c unit that we have in the bedroom runs a lot louder than this one and is maybe only a year old. Nice mini fridge that fits perfectly in space built for 25 year old U-Line I had to replace. This is my second one as the first GE compressor died after only 5 years. Cost effective to just replace the entire unit and get the extended warranty. Plenty of room, nice interior setup and glass shelves make cleaning easy. Keeps everything very cold. Only downside is it is not self defrosting. The defrosting process takes about two hours which I do about every six months. It’s a little messy as defrosting requires removal of a tray filled with water. Impossible to do without spilling. Definitely keep a towel handy.. David. Marietta, GA. Mon Sep 15 2025
