I was looking for something not too tall that would provide good horizontal cube storage and this completely fit the bill. The parts were all well-labeled and the instructions were very clear, making it a breeze to assemble. I took 1 star off the rating for 3 issues: (1) many of the part labels are on the front side so that the sticker has to be removed, however it's very difficult to remove and leaves some residue. (2) The finish is a bit fragile and chipped a few times around the holes when inserting screws. And (3) overall the bookcase is pretty flimsy. I purchased the 3-shelf size, 36" H X 48" wide. It holds my entire cookbook collection and does double duty as a divider between the foyer and kitchen/dining area. Beautiful, heavy wood in the mission style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the backing. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing. The back of this bookcase is some sort of shiny, vinyl covered panel and the color is awful. Maybe it was meant to be faux marble, but they missed by a mile.
