H.M.S. Sovereign of the Seas, launched in 1637, was the most powerfully armed ship in the world in its day. It was originally going to have 90 guns, but King Charles I personally insisted that a ''great ship'' be built for the English Royal Navy, so it went to sea with 102 bronze guns. The vessel was the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings. The ship was later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign. It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

H.M.S. Victory was the ultimate British fighting vessel: 227 feet long with 104 guns and 850 men when at full capacity. It was launched in 1765 and is most famous as Adm. Horatio Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Nelson was shot and killed during the battle. H.M.S. Victory is the oldest naval ship still in commission. It has been restored and rests in dry docks at Portsmouth, England. The ship in Portsmouth is the sixth ship with the name Victory in the Royal Navy. There has been great interest in the fifth Victory ship, which was built 15 years earlier and whose wreckage was found recently by Odyssey Marine Exploration.

Built primarily with dense southern live oak, its hull was 21 inches thick in an era when 18 inches was common. Paul revere forged the copper spikes and bolts that held the planks in place. The 204-foot-long ship was first put to sea in 1798 and its most famous era of naval warfare was the War of 1812 against Britain when it captured numerous merchant ships and defeated five warships, including the H.M.S. Guerriere. It was during the ferocious battle with the Guerriere that British seamen, astonished at how their cannonballs were bouncing off the constitution's hull, cried out, ''Sir, her sides are made from iron'' hence, the nickname, ''old ironsides.'' the constitution today is a national landmark and is docked in boston.

Impressive model! I haven't even removed it from the packaging as yet. I am a woodworker and planning to construct a case for it as I did for the Independence, a model I finished this year. Only question I have is about the masts when first received. Upon opening the top of the shipping box I remember all the sails were 90 degrees to the hull. Now after 2 days, all the sails are 30 degrees to the left. I included a shot looking down at the model. I was interested to know if others have noticed this or am I mistaken? Also found this after unpacking (see picture) of rear mast warped at top. The other noticeable item was the size of the rigging blocks, obviously too large but can be overlooked as they seem to accentuate the model when viewed as a whole.. Greg. Gilroy, CA. The San Felipe was one of the most beautiful Spanish ships in the 1600s. Launched in 1690, it had 96 cannons and was the lead ship of the feared Spanish Armada. It was powerful enough to go up against the most formidable ships in the French and British navies. In 1705, the San Felipe and 11 other Spanish ships waged a furious and heroic battle against 35 British ships. After 24 hours of fighting, the San Felipe was captured but was so badly damaged that it could not be salvaged as a prize. It sank with several tons of gold.

This is a reproduction of Charles Patterson's oil painting depicting the batlle between the USS Frigate Constitution and the HMS Java, December 1812. The USS Constitution commanded by Captain William Bainbridge, exchanging broadsides with the British Frigate Java off Brazil early in the action. During nearly two hours of battle, Java was dismasted and had to surrender. Her damage was so severe that she had to be burned.

A coal-carrying merchant ship operating on the coast of England, named the Bethia, was purchased by the Admiralty, renamed the Bounty, and re-commissioned in 1787 for a special mission. She was to sail halfway around the world to Tahiti, collect sapling breadfruit trees, and transport them to the West Indies. Owners of the burgeoning British plantations there needed a cheap source of food for the workers.

So many small fittings add richness to this amazing work of art. The attention to detail is remarkable. Expert packing. It came boxed with an interior wood crate and all I needed was a screw driver to pry the small nails holding the frame in place around the ship which was tied off inside the frame and cushioned with styrofoam. OMH provides directions inside the Certificate of Authenticity envelope and I recommend looking at that first. The ship itself was fully assembled with the exception of the front mast which locks and hooks into place as per the instruction. There are 3 screws to hold the ship to the wood base that were easy to tighten with the allen wrench enclosed. Fast FedEx free shipping. I could not be happier with my purchase. Great product. The Black Pearl, originally Wicked Wench, is a fictional ship in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. The Black Pearl is easily recognized in the screenplay by her distinctive black hull and sails. This is an advantage in more than one way. Not only do the black sails act as an intimidation tactic, but Pearl's crew can put out the deck lamps for added stealth at night. The ship was originally named Wicked Wench before she was ordered burned and sunk by Lord Beckett[citation needed]. It was later raised from the sea floor by Davy Jones after making a pact with Jack Sparrow who rechristened her the Black Pearl. She is said to be ''nigh uncatchable''. Indeed, in the three films she either overtakes or flees all other ships, including the Interceptor (regarded as the fastest ship in the Caribbean) and the Flying Dutchman (which is actually faster against the wind). Her speed is derived from the large amount of sails she carries. She is noted in At Worlds End as being ''The only ship as what (which) can outrun the Flying Dutchman.'' The Black Pearl is one of the locations that can be visited in the Port Royal world of Kingdom Hearts II.

The vessel was the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings. The ship was later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign. It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

This liner, which was the first canard ship to be outside of Britain, left dock in the western French port of Saint-Nazaire for several trial runs between the off-shore islands of Ile dyeu and Belle-Ile. The Queen Mary II - which can accommodate some 2,600 passengers and 1,250 crew members - is 345 meters long and 41 meters wide, and stands as high as a 23-story building. The 150,000-ton vessel includes a spa, five swimming pools, 2,000 bathrooms, 3,000 telephones, 4,500 steps along with hundreds of works of art. It generated enough power to provide electricity for a city of 300,000 residents. canard, owned by the US cruise group Carnival, paid around 800 million dollars for the vessel. By comparison, the Titanic was 269 meters long, 28 meters wide, and a gross tonnage of 45,000 tons.

Titanic was designed to be a marvel of modern safety technology and her accommodations were the most modern and luxurious on any ocean. She was 883 feet long (1/6 of a mile), 92 feet wide and weighed 46,328 tons. She was 104 feet tall from keel to bridge, almost 35 feet of which were below the waterline.
