My two kitties love their new space! We have two 9 months old kitties that we rescued when they were 3 12 weeks old. They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. I’ve been looking for one with kind of measurements and with some adjustments to the structure (for our needs and wants) this has been great. The instructions were pictures which I thought were a challenge, and a few pieces were cracked.. I used glue and packing tape for repair. But not with removing a star. I skipped the braces ( first steps so I could put it together in the house ) when my husband and I could assemble this outdoors I did end up replacing some of the upper parts with the same wire as the bottom. I purchased at tractor supply then replaced the two doors with just wire ( a good stapler is needed.) The big door at the bottom I added an extra lock so it gives me the access needed for “just in case” my cats would run in if I shake the treat jar. I got two pieces of strapping for the top to support the top by the roof and one for the center just for additional support. I am able to use power tools but I didn’t want to come up with the big design so honestly this is great! Overall this catio is great. It was a little hard to build just because the parts were missing their stickers to identify them. I was able to figure it out and build it myself in about 3 hours total. The patio gets a little hot as it’s metal. So I added some greenery to provide some shade and privacy. My cats are a little skittish. I like that the catio has multiple shelves. I took off the hammocks because, again, my cats are skittish. The option to take off a piece is great since I have a window door for the cats to come I. And out of the house at their leisure. I had to add some shims because my concrete is at an angle to drain water. But that has nothing to do with the catio. I added some catnip at the bottom. It’s doing nicely. I am thinking of also adding some real grass at the bottom so my cats can roll on it. I have two cats. If of them is in there constantly. The other one is still deciding if she likes it. This catio is great, it only lost a star because it was a little difficult to build, it’s gets a little hotter than I would like (fixed with greenery).
