I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. This was a replacement for one that lasted 5 years (including midwest winters)... my 2 cats love hanging out in this. Overall this catio is great. It was a little hard to build just because the parts were missing their stickers to identify them. I was able to figure it out and build it myself in about 3 hours total. The patio gets a little hot as it’s metal. So I added some greenery to provide some shade and privacy. My cats are a little skittish. I like that the catio has multiple shelves. I took off the hammocks because, again, my cats are skittish. The option to take off a piece is great since I have a window door for the cats to come I. And out of the house at their leisure. I had to add some shims because my concrete is at an angle to drain water. But that has nothing to do with the catio. I added some catnip at the bottom. It’s doing nicely. I am thinking of also adding some real grass at the bottom so my cats can roll on it. I have two cats. If of them is in there constantly. The other one is still deciding if she likes it. This catio is great, it only lost a star because it was a little difficult to build, it’s gets a little hotter than I would like (fixed with greenery). Very pleased with this catio. We dreaded assembly but turns out some reviewers were perhaps less handy than my spouse. You do need tools and do need to make a few holes. Spouse built it in less than 5 hours which I think was the time I saw stated by others; I ended up not needing to help at all. Do sort out all the parts and hardware up front so you know what each item is. The wheels are durable/sturdy. Initially the cedar wood smell might turn off your pet but once it aired out a few days after build the smell is goes away; our cats' explored and now lay inside (on pet rugs). They can now "join in" for outdoor dining while preventing toxic plant chewing, bird casualties, fleas, etc... This is a pretty cool enclosure and can be set up against an open window but be sure your windows align with the openings. Be prepared to spend a day assembling this kennel! It arrived in 3 large boxes, 100lbs each but well packed and lined with wood. All of the various parts are letter coded, the best is that all of the bolts and screws are the same size for the entire structure. The materials are heavy duty, it is best to have 2 people working and holding panels to get everything lined up. My only complaint is the main doors. For some reason the hinges ARE the screws, which doesn’t seem secure or could loosentighten over time. Second is that there is a fairly large gap between the doors and the rest of the kennel where all other pieces are very tight together. I’m using this for chickens and will need to come up with a solution to fill in that gap. All in all, I think this is great quality. It came with ground stakes to prevent the wind from taking it. I wanted a catio, but I'm just not in the position to do it right now. My 2 fur babies lay on a bench in front of the picture window all the time, so in attempt to give them an upgrade I took a chance on these. Of course I got 2 because they don't share exceptionally well. The first day they showed no interest in actually getting in but then it became a clear favorite spot to be, practically abandoning the bench. They seem to have a "new" smell when first unpacked, but it went away quickly. I do recommend having a helper (other than your inspector cat) to assemble, especially if using a manual screwdriver.
