I bought these chairs so I could sit on my deck and see over the railing. I assembled one easily and tried it out. The height was perfect but the arms were rough (one of my personal pet peeves). So I decided to sand them down and the stain came off so I restained them and then applied a poly coat to (hopefully) keep the arms smooth. If you are ok with textured arms it would not be a problem.
