Fairly easy to build. I did it all on my own, took about 12hrs however I took several breaks and I was building 2 of these desks. I bought this desk a few years ago & am just now reviewing. Fun fact - I am typing this review from this exact desk. It's looking a bit warn these days, a few scratches in the surface & one banged up spot on the drawer where I have a habit of spinning my chair into. But for a simple home office, it works great. Few things to note 1. Don’t try to swap the drawer sides or you have a massive gap on the side from the desktop 2. The instructions show you the sides swapped with the flat side of the shelf unit facing out - this is a dirty trick. Don’t try it or you off center desk. 3. Swap step 8 and 7. You’ll thank me later. 4. 2-4 hours is a lie IF you follow the directions. I had to rework 3 times which put me at 5-6 hours of putting together. 5. I waited 5 months for this desk to come back into stock. Although it’s the look I wanted, the rework and cussing was not to my satisfaction. This is a good looking table but 4 stars because the top of the table is 2 pieces and the wood design doesn’t match (see pictures). I was worried because some reviews describe this as a child's desk. I bought the 63" version, and it's very nice as a simple adult-sized desk. The cloth drawers are plenty nice (and especially well suited to a craft room). I had no difficulty assembling this item mostly by myself, and I am an older woman with a physical disability (in my fifties with a movement disorder). I only needed a second person's help for turning the whole unit upright after assembly. The instructions are honestly the best I've ever encountered for DIY furniture, quite clear and easy to follow. The hardware is immaculately laid out in labeled pouches (with a spare of each main screw type included). I'm delighted with this product. It is a narrow desk, yet can easily accommodate a 32" computer monitor and keyboard. If you have cats, be aware that they can quickly tear apart the end-mounted book/magazine holder (as I found out on day one!) and fabric-sided drawers.
