The connector is flat and smooth and does not obstruct or block the door wheels when sliding (in other words does not prevent doors from sliding past it). I used it to put two five foot barn door rails together to make one long 10 foot rail so my two 30" doors (60" or 5 foot total) could slide all the way to the left on the rail when doors are open, and all the way to the right on the rail to close both doors together for my 5 foot door opening..
