A collector's model of the German battleship Gneisenau from World War II was designed by the COBI company in a 1:300 scale model. It consists of 2417 building blocks and is 81 cm long. It faithfully reflects the proportions of the historic ship and retains all its essential elements, including armament. The model ship was created to look as it did during "Operation Berlin 1941" (Atlantic). It was the famous corsair rally in the Atlantic Ocean with the battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.

It was originally going to have 90 guns, but King Charles I personally insisted that a ''great ship'' be built for the English Royal Navy, so it went to sea with 102 bronze guns. The vessel was the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings. The ship was later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign. It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

This Spartan Helmet took my eye right away! Initially, I thought of both of my sons who love this period of time, but in the end, I kept it for myself! It is made well, but when you first take it out of the plastic wrap it does have an odor, maybe of paint. It looks like a mixture of bronze and black. The size looks comparable to a typical helmet. On its stand it appears to be about 16” high. The big decision is to whether have a frontal view or a side view, showing off the feathers of the helmet. Layers of vanishes are applied; the hull is then smoothly sanded between coats to create a mirror effect. This model was built according to scale through original plans, pictures and drawings. Extensive research threw original plans and pictures makes Old Modern Handicrafts model look authentic. Each model goes threw a demanding quality control process before leaving Old Modern Handicrafts workshop. Rested in a neat wood stand.
