I searched high and low to find a shelving unit with tall enough, deep enough, and wide enough shelves to accommodate some large Lego constructs. Leaving out two of the shelves of this unit mostly accomplished the job. My only issue is that the design of this is a little odd, having the slats on the front. I believe this was designed to be more of a room divider, where it makes more sense, but this still works okay. I also wish the shelves were adjustable. For the price, these are great little bookshelves. The white shelving is particleboard with melamine and the outer end brackets and rear crossbars are metal with a polished chrome finish. There are round rubber legs on the base and the top caps. This was very easy to assemble with simple screws and an Allen wrench. I ordered 2 shelves for my office and each one took about 15 mins. to assemble. I am an Architect + Interior Designer and I needed simple shelves to house material samples and keep them organized in my office. Each shelf is rated to hold approx. 30 lbs, which is the perfect capacity for my material samples and or any books also.
