Solid construction, though the pine is soft and easy to dent. Holes are surprisingly well-aligned. The sticker labels leave some residue, but they were placed in areas where other pieces would overlap, so it's not a big deal. I worried a little after I ordered this, but once I had it up, I knew I loved it. It was an unusual piece for me to get, but I simply didn't have floor space for a long bookcase and this seemed like a solution, as long as it didn't look cheap or odd, and it doesn't. I think it adds a unique touch to the room. I absolutely had to hire somebody, a professional carpenter who's a friend of mine, to put it together, I'm not at all handy, so there's no question of whether I could do it. He decided to glue it, which is not in the instructions, as he felt it would be more stable over time. $90.00 was the charge for an excellent professional. It still swivels very nicely on day four!
