I have two 12 pound 1-year old cats, and I bought this thinking one would sleep on top and one would sleep in the basket. Of course they tussle over who gets the top and neither uses the basket at all. Only once I've seen them sleeping on the top together, so it will fit both. I took away one star because the tree is not as sturdy as I hoped. It's well made and was easy to assemble, but it sways a bit since everything is balanced on the single tree trunk, despite tightening as much as we could. I put a small plastic bin full of landscape rocks on the base to counterbalance so it doesn't sway too far or tip over when a cat leaps onto it. The mid range height is perfect for placement behind our sofa, so it doesn't block the view of the TV from the kitchen. The top level is very soft and both cats love to stretch out and sleep there. I did not attach the large fluffy ball, because it contains a rather annoying rattle. Overall this is nice, but definitely for 1-2 cats that aren't too big. I think the listing said 3 cats up to 22 pounds each, but that doesn't seem realistic in my opinion. It's a good looking cat tree that blends into the decor better than some others.. Katie. My two kitties love their new space! We have two 9 months old kitties that we rescued when they were 3 12 weeks old. They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. I bought this for my senior lady, who likes to be a little elevated, but doesn’t need to be on top of a tall cat tree. This is a little too high for her to jump up to on her own, so I gave her pet steps to reach it. She has laid claim to the top level and absolutely loves the furry fabric and large space (she’s a full-figured girl). Her brothers have been competing for the giant cubby at the bottom. The shelf gets 5 stars from “Mona Lisa”, a 9lb. 1yr old kitty. On the other hand “Miss Piggy”, a 13 lb 4yr old cat, says this is a nicely built 5 star quality kitty shelf, great for climbing and dodging the other cats, but it only gets 3 stars for comfort. It’s a great quality shelf, but “Mona Lisa” is the only cat who will use this shelf to relax in, since she’s so small. The other 5 cats do not use this shelf to relax in, it’s mostly used for getting up off the floor to safety and a means to get up to the longer andor flatter shelves which are the preferred destination shelves.. The end result of this 4-in-1 Cat Wheel is 5 stars. However, I am rating this 4 stars because it advertises that assembly is easy. It was anything but easy. For reference, I have assembled over 20 items over the past six months from Wayfair and other retailers and I consider myself pretty apt at assembling just about anything. First, the pros it is a very solid piece, and works great, if my cat will actually use it as intended. The holes, screws and alignment of the parts were perfect! This was very helpful considering the other issues of assembly. It is large enough for my 12 pound Ivy and he is still taking his time checking it out. I am finding it a bit of a challenge as to where I will actually put it. For now it’s in my den. Cons it says it’s lightweight, it is not! It’s solid wood and that is a good thing. It also isn’t easy to tip or move, also a good thing. I recommend using some kind of nonslip padding underneath if you’re placing it on hardwood or ceramic flooring. The instructions leave a lot to be desired. It was all pictures and there were many sections that should have used additional written instructions. I had to undo parts several times as the pictures were difficult to discern positioning and placement of screws and pieces. I was able to figure it out due to the many items assembled and basically looking at the structure to determine what was needed. Note review the WHOLE instruction booklet thoroughly before proceeding. There are sections that are out of order to logistically fit certain pieces. For example, after the wheel is assembled and it’s ready to be placed into the base, part 10 has to be partially lifted in order for the wheel to fit into place. As well, I strongly recommend to place the wheel mat inside the wheel on a flat surface and not after it’s installed. You will need a utility knife to fold in the edges so that it fits snugly and remove the air bubbles. Don’t worry, the knife will not cut the material, it’s extremely durable. I was trying to cut off the excess material from the edges and it didn’t puncture it at all. Instead, it made the material fit nicely along the opposite edge. I haven’t placed the scratch pad yet because there isn’t a space for it to fit. It’s a very awkward shape and doesn’t fit the intended area. Lastly, use your own comfort handle Phillips screwdriver. There are a lot of screws and the one included is not comfortable at all! Overall, this is a nice cat wheel for the price and assembly took me 5 hours.
