This unit did not come with assembly directions. It seems it just screws in to the scratch pad itself. It doesn't seem very sturdy and the cats already knocked it over several times. Cat favorite! This is by far both my cats most favorite sleeping as well as hiding spot. Assembly was incredibly easy - my son put it together in no time. I bought this for my senior lady, who likes to be a little elevated, but doesn’t need to be on top of a tall cat tree. This is a little too high for her to jump up to on her own, so I gave her pet steps to reach it. She has laid claim to the top level and absolutely loves the furry fabric and large space (she’s a full-figured girl). Her brothers have been competing for the giant cubby at the bottom.
