This bench is produced from solid mahogany with hand-carved details all the way from the scrolled arms to the gadrooned (rope edged) skirt and on downwards to the cabriole legs which feature acanthus carvings as well as ball and claw feet. Useful throughout the home the bench also has a seat which raises to reveal a storage space initially intended to hold sheet music.

This is a beautiful piece. Very elegant but also very sturdy. It is a little larger than it appears so be sure to measure your area. The fabric is also a little darker cream and light goldenrod. It was well packed and delivered in perfect condition. I have it in my entry hall against my staircase and can easily move it into my living room as extra seating. My husband, adult daughter, and teenage son all sat on this comfortably for dinner. It is a true white color, as you can see from my photo against my antique white table legs and walls. Having a back makes bench seating so much more comfortable and this one is the perfect height to fit under my service window. We thought it looked too bulky in our space at first, but it has really grown on us! I haven’t decided if I’ll paint it antique white to match the surroundings. I took off one star because one of the sides came with a misaligned hole! Thankfully, my husband it handy and measured and drilled a hole in the correct spot. Although this is a pricey piece, it was worth it. I searched long and hard for a wide, durable bench with style. The color is a lovely dove grey blue with just the right amount of distressed paint to make it chabby chic. The cushion fabric is raw silk but it is more durable and textured than expected. I have scotch guarded the fabric and am using this bench for dining room table seating. This looks so good with the mango wood distressed table. We have teenagers and lots of guests and this is holding up perfectly. I love it, love it, love it.
