My only concern was range of the remote, which was not an issue, even at a sharp angle from my bedroom window at roughly 22 feet, so I was pleasantly surprised. I prefer this to a Pet Door because of the Remote option. She did not like pushing through the pet door that I first installed, and this was a great solution at a reasonable price. I also bought a Pressure Sensitive Mat that Chimes when she is inside and approaches the door so that I know when she wants to go out. Looks well made and sturdy. I have two senior dogs and it gets cold here in the Northeast. The cover on this pet heating pad is so soft and it is removable and can be machine washed. There is a timer setting and the temperature range is from 61-69. The instructions say different temperatures but the ones I mentioned are the ones on the remote. I do like that the cord is protected with a casing around it, my dogs are not chewers but this is a nice feature for the ones that are. I have two smaller dogs so they both fit on this pad.
