Now this is a heavy umbrella base! Someone said “get the heaviest one you can find”. My husband was not happy with me but that umbrella does not move in this base! I’m not sure how easy the wheels are for transport because I wouldn’t be able to tilt this thing back to use them (on one side). I love the simplicity and low profile of this patio umbrella base stand! It says it’s 40 lbs. but it feels much heavier than that! It was extremely easy to assemble, five minutes! I’ve had my umbrella opened since I installed it and we’ve had rain and wind for the past week and this umbrella has not wavered or moved an inch! I’m in the process of finding a new outdoor table with an umbrella hole, and I have no worries that this base will keep the umbrella steady. I like the fact that it come with several hole adjustments for various size poles. I had to use the 1.5 inch hole tube. Update, have a new table with the umbrella hole. This is by far the best market umbrella I’ve ever owned. I opted for the sunbrella fabric as it’s heavier than the other fabrics I’ve owned in the past (and did not last as long).This umbrella has a bronze colored pole and is operated by a hand crank although it does have an auto tilt feature. The auto tilt is amazing as you slowly keep cranking after the umbrella is fully extended, the auto tilt engages and the umbrella will automatically tilt. Once you start cranking in the opposite direction to close the umbrella, the auto tilt disengages and the umbrella stands upright so you can finish closing it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this umbrella. It is sturdy, solid quality not flimsy or wobbly. I have it inserted in a 110lb base and the pole did not sway when we had some wind. It is made of aluminum so it will not rust either. Also, the ribs are made of fiberglass which held the canopy up well. The crank mechanism is smooth and works easily too. Set up this free-standing heavy-duty umbrella base on your patio or at any outdoor event without worry. The free-standing umbrella base is crafted with a high-density polyethylene shell with UV protection that will not dent or fade, and can withstand the elements in any weather climate. This HDPE fillable base comes ready to be user filled with sand or gravel. Easily transport and set up the base with the removable wheel on the bottom and hand grips for easier mobility. The 24" diameter base features a 20" high stem that accommodates poles from 1 ½" through 2" thick. Inside the stem is a plastic post protector for the umbrella to rest on instead of a screw leaving the pole undamaged. The stem features two knobs made of polypropylene that tighten the umbrella securely in place for added stability and support. All of the steel components are made of grade 304 stainless steel. Grade 304 stainless steel is also used in aerospace engineering and surgical instruments.
