I had the door professionally installed. I purchased 5 lag bolts , header board , a sander , weatherizing stain to color it grey, spray poly. I was initially disappointed when assembling because some of the boards were cut short and I can see tiny gaps in the wood but it is a heavy door that was a bit of a project. The handle is great and on the other side of the handle there is an intention so you can push the door from the other side. We did not install the lock latch but it is a very solid piece. This works really well to connect two barn door rails together to make one long rail such that two (or more) doors will be able to slide along the rail all the way to the left and all the way to the right. The connector is flat and smooth and does not obstruct or block the door wheels when sliding (in other words does not prevent doors from sliding past it). I used it to put two five foot barn door rails together to make one long 10 foot rail so my two 30" doors (60" or 5 foot total) could slide all the way to the left on the rail when doors are open, and all the way to the right on the rail to close both doors together for my 5 foot door opening.. Medium weight and sturdy!! This barn door was fairly easy to install but it does require two people to install the sliding bracket. The door has a flat coat of paint so I would recommend painting it even if you want it to remain white- use at least a satin finish to reduce fingerprints. The handle is nice. Note- if your doorway is 38” wide, you will need to add wood to the interior frame or else there will be a gap. I recommend this door and would install it in other areas of my home. Shamika.
