I had the door professionally installed. I purchased 5 lag bolts , header board , a sander , weatherizing stain to color it grey, spray poly. I was initially disappointed when assembling because some of the boards were cut short and I can see tiny gaps in the wood but it is a heavy door that was a bit of a project. The handle is great and on the other side of the handle there is an intention so you can push the door from the other side. We did not install the lock latch but it is a very solid piece. Just screw the 3 hinges on, place the three peices of hardware in the 3 holes, mount the top track, place the bottom against the jamb, and pop the door into place. I was done in 15 minutes. I ordered two of these solid core doors for my 1950s home, which has non-standard closet openings. First, these doors are extremely heavy. The quality is great, though. My only real issue is the packaging for shipping.. it isn’t great. Like many others have experienced, my doors arrived damaged. Thankfully, it was limited to a few small dings and scratches, but still enough to be disappointing. All in all, I would recommend them. These are heavy-duty doors, and the quality seems excellent for the price. Just be aware that you’re rolling the dice a bit when ordering as there’s a 5050 chance it will be damaged in transit. NOTE I added a piece of trim to hide the railing above both doors. Yes. The frame in one of my closets is crooked so the install was hell. A home builder problem, not a door problem though.. Daniel. First impression: Very nice workmanship, color and texture very nice, dimensions highly accurate and consistent. Unexpected: The wood is not painted but somehow shrink wrapped in a clever textured durable plastic wrap that completely fools the perception that it is anything but paint. Triming: Cutting the bottom to vertical size with a hand jigsaw is not a problem. That revealed the durable plastic wrap was actually not paint. I have no idea if painting the wrap would be ok or not. Fitment into the closet cutout: My closet frame was poorly constructed by the builder. The frame is taller on the right side than on the left, and neither vertical side is actually square. Both tops are skewed to the right relative to the footing, and the right side frame is taller than the left. This made it a real challenge to installation and left me with unappealing visual gaps. My options were rework the top left closet frame (big job, messy, drywall and mudding involved, painting afterwards) so I vetoed that idea, or take off the left doors and use a planing sander to bevel the doors to conform to the distorted frame (vetoed that idea because of tricky and only get once to get it right), or cosmetically hide the visual distortion by using a fascia treatment on the doors repurposing inexpensive plastic self-adhesive door sweeps and that worked easily and generally is quite appealing as a workable solution. Recommendation to the manufacturer: Review my photos to understand how my solution suggests you include accessory plastic fascias for cosmetic treatments when fitment to closet frames is difficult. Overall: I struggled a lot to get a good installation but attribute it to my closet framing poorly constructed. The end result looks and functions very nicely, especially after applying my door sweeps fascia treatments. I include a final after-treatment photo.
