This Spartan Helmet took my eye right away! Initially, I thought of both of my sons who love this period of time, but in the end, I kept it for myself! It is made well, but when you first take it out of the plastic wrap it does have an odor, maybe of paint. It looks like a mixture of bronze and black. The size looks comparable to a typical helmet. On its stand it appears to be about 16” high. The big decision is to whether have a frontal view or a side view, showing off the feathers of the helmet. "The Death of Major Ringgold at the Battle of Palo Alto" by Alonzo Chappel depicts the dramatic and heroic moment of Major Samuel Ringgold’s death during the Battle of Palo Alto in the Mexican-American War (May 8, 1846). Ringgold, known as the "Father of Modern Artillery," played a crucial role in pioneering the use of flying artillery - highly mobile cannons that greatly influenced the battle’s outcome. Chappel portrays the moment with intense realism, showing Ringgold wounded yet steadfast, surrounded by fellow soldiers in the midst of battle.
